You may have noticed that something has returned to the Anglotopia Sidebar – that’s right a trip countdown!
My wife and I are planning a trip to Britain in November!
We’re still a little sore that we had to cancel out trip last month and have been wracking our brains since trying to figure out how to get back to L’Angleterre.
I declared to my wife the other day, “We’re going to England in November.”
She responded, “Okay.”
And that’s that. Planning has begun. Now, the hard work of figuring out how to pay for it begins. I’m pretty confident I’ll be able to make it happen. I have a few innovative ideas and few irons in the coals that I think will make it happen.
In order to keep the wife and I motivated and to excite you all about the trip (and for planning your own), I’m going to start a weekly blog series titled “Dreams of Britain.” This series will focus on how to plan a trip to Britain, sites to see, what to expect and so much more. I’ll also take you through our journey of planning the perfect trip to Britain.
It’s going to be an exciting journey and I can’t wait to share it with you all. Without all of you, this site would not be where it is today and I would not be able to confidently say, “We’re going to England in November.”

Anglotopia was founded by Jonathan and Jackie Thomas for people who love Britain - whether it's British TV, Culture, History or Travel - we cover it all. Anglotopia was started to get us back to the UK for a trip and it did that in 2009. Now, the goal is for Anglotopia to make our dreams of traveling to the UK whenever we want a reality.
Good for you. Put your foot down and say, this is it! I think when you set a date it gets you more motivated.
How exciting! I leave for London two weeks from tomorrow, and I’m pretty much beside myself with excitement and anxiety!
Good luck with getting your trip to England sorted. Are you planning on attempting to walk up the hill pictured? It might be worth it with a loaf of Hovis. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Mq59ykPnAE
As an anglophile you might like the new Hovis advert too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cv4c4ER8Pzo
(I’m not affliated to Hovis in any way, just thought you might appreciate the ads)

I came across your blog while searching for a photo of Gold Hill. I’m so delighted that Shaftesbury is your favourite place in the UK as it’s very special! Would you believe that we own Updown Cottage – the white cottage in the very centre of the photo?! It is 5* Gold Award self catering holiday cottage that you can rent by the week or 3 / night stay. We would be so pleased if you wanted to stay there during your trip in November.
Good luck with all the planning!
