This is a rather unique use of social media that I think is worth mentioning. A house that was featured on one of my Favorite British shows, Grand Designs, is being given away in a contest that anyone can enter!
They’ve been trying to sell the house, but in the down economy, they can’t find a buyer for their £800,000 dream home. So, they’re going to give it away.
Surely, there’s a catch? There is and it’s a very innovative internet marketing effort. It’s a Twitter contest and twitter contests are the new rage right now. To enter all you need to do is follow them on Twitter.
But to win the house, they have to sell ads in the value of the house on their website. Anyone can buy ad space and is similar to the One Million Dollar Pixel Homepage. Also, a portion of the ad revenue will go to charity.
The house is gorgeous and it would be my dream home, so this is the perfect dream home giveaway. The construction was featured on Channel Four Grand Designs several years ago.
I’ve seen the episode and the house is beautiful. It’s real modern, airy and features the latest green technologies.
The prize is the house, lock stock and barrel. You get the freehold and all taxes related to the sale will be paid.

Oh I love English authors and their books and I visited England as a child so I’ll follow but I’d have to get a visa to see the house if I win.
I remember this episode!! love this show, how cool to win the house.
