Anglophile Oddities: ‘Skinniest house in Britain’ for sale at £550,000

In a place like London, every piece of real estate is valuable, no matter how small it is.

This thin house in Sheperd’s Bush is no exception to that rule. It’s a spacious 66 inches wide across 5 floors, bringing the square footage to 1000 sq feet. Which doesn’t sound that bad. Except for the fact that the house is 66 INCHES wide!

From the Telegraph Article where I heard about it:

Estate agent Simon Beatson, of Faron Sutaria, which is selling the property, said he expected a great deal of interest in the thin home.

He said: “I have never seen a house like this – it really is skinny, but that adds to its charm.

“It certainly is one of the thinnest homes in the country.”

Mr Beatson said the second floor could be divided to create a third bedroom if the new owners’ wished.

He said he expected a couple or a single person to buy the house because it was not practical for families.

Mr Beatson said the home was good value per square foot, despite its thin width.

If you a fancy a go at the London property market, the property will set you back £549,950 – approximately $900,000. Yes, $900,000 dollars for what’s basically a five floor closet.

And believe me, this is not the most insanely priced British property I’ve seen. There was the broom closet for sale in Knightsbridge for £250,000 a few years ago. Compared to that – this is a steal!
