Every man should own this book.
While this book is not necessarily an Anglophile related book – it was so lovely that I just had to write a review of it.
Volumes of literature have been written about how manhood is being taken away from men in the modern world. This book tries to take it back and reclaim manhood for men.
Many of us have an old school Grandpa who fought in the war, wore hats, knew how to wear a suit, smoked a pipe and had a particular outlook on the world that just doesn’t exist anymore. We admire our grandfathers and often aspire to be like them.
Well, the Art of Manliness book is the perfect guide that harkens back to our shared history of manliness. It teaches you how to be a man like your Grandfather.
In this book you’ll find practical guides on how to:
- Choose a Hat
- Buy a Suit
- How to Treat a Woman
- How to Shave Properly
- Philosophy on Manliness
There are more than just how to guides – the Art of Manliness book has a particular philosophy to it that is very appealing in our modern age where men are expected to act like idiots and act more like women than men. The book encourages us to treat women the way they deserve to be treated, drink and partake in life’s pleasure in moderation and not to excess, be useful and active in your local community and most of all – learn to enjoy the company of your fellow man.
I rarely buy books anymore as I got sick of moving them around when we’ve had to move, but I happily bought this book and it will be a permanent part of my library. I should disclose that I’ve been an avid reader of the the blog the book is based on, The Art of Manliness and I’ve written a guest post for the site (Churchill’s Manly Qualities), but that did not influence my review of this book.
If you’re interested in buying the book, you can get it in the Anglotopia store here:
Despite only being slightly British related, The Art of Manliness book still get 5 out of 5 Union Jacks.

As a mom, I think the manliness blog is incredible. And I just ordered copies of the book for my four sons. Thank you for posting this! Gentlemen rule!
