Diamond Pass for Royal Attractions for the Diamond Jubilee

To celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012, VisitBritain has created a Diamond Pass for overseas visitors to Britain. The heritage-inspired pass offers visitors discounted entry to 60 famous castles, stately homes with royal connections, and other attractions next year.

Visitors from overseas who use the Pass (it will not be available to U.K. residents) can save up to 40% off the gate prices for the attractions on offer. They will also be able to access information with downloadable mobile apps and quick reference maps.

The Diamond Jubilee marks 60 years of Queen Elizabeth’s reign. The Queen came to the throne on 6 February 1952, and her Coronation took place on 2 June 1953. The weekend of 2–5 June 2012 will be the Queen’s official Jubilee Weekend. Monday 4 June and Tuesday 5 June will be national holidays.

On Sunday 3 June, the Queen will lead a flotilla of up to 1,000 boats assembled from across the U.K., the Commonwealth and around the world along the River Thames in London.

The 2011 Great British Heritage Pass for overseas visitors to Britain is on sale now. It offers specially priced entry to nearly 500 of Britain’s top historic sites: castles and forts, palaces and royal residences, stately homes and historic houses, gardens and ancient monuments – many of which are also World Heritage Sites.

Great British Heritage Passes are available for periods of 3, 7, 15 and 30 days. Prices for 2011 are £39 (£23 child) for a 3-day pass, £69 (£40) for 7 days, £89 (£52) for 15 days and £119 (£70) for a 30-day pass. Prices for the 2012 Diamond Pass to 60 attractions have yet to be announced.
