High Speed Trains Debut in Britain

Britain’s first commuter high speed rail had it’s debut yesterday. It’s been a long time coming and it’s all very impressive.

Brits may sneer when you say good things about their railroads – but as least they have them.

The Javelin Train, as it’s being called, travels at 142mph and cuts travel times from London to Kent and the Southeast Coast of England by a substantial margin. Trips are expensive, however and it’s not really meant for tourists. The service is mostly targeted towards opening up more commuter belt areas in Southern England.

I’m a bit of a train dork, so I love stuff like this. Here’s a video from the day:
