Another week of set reports, rumors and generally web nuttiness and the Whoniverse waits to see what news comes out from San Diego later this weekend.
In the meantime there is lots of stuff happening as filming of The Crimson Horror (ep. 9) continues in Wales.
SEASON SEVEN NEWS
Things slowed down a bit near the end of the week as the cast and crew prepared for the hustle and bustle of San Diego Comic Con this weekend. Filming for episode nine did take place last week at the London House and Parish Church in Llantrisant.
It looks like Episode Nine is bringing back some of the characters introduced in A Good Man Goes To War. Neve McIntosh has been sighted onset in her full on Silurian costume along with Catrin Stewart. This means Madame Vastra and Jenny will be in The Crimson Horror.
The story is set in 1890 and features some mysterious happenings in Yorkshire. There have been a series of posters spotted onset advertising a wax museum and a circus.
Dan Starkey has been sen onset as Commander Strax.
Maybe being a nurse did not work out. Or this could have happened before we met him last season.
More pictures from filming and a very nice set report can be found here at the There Once Was A Fire Eating Goat blog: http://tlchimera.blogspot.com/2012/07/dwsr-llantristant.html
In other rumors…The Ice Warriors may be back in a Mark Gatiss penned story set on a submarine.
There will be a Doctor Who Q&A at San Diego Comic Con this weekend. Undoubtedly we will get some footage and possible some news on what is planned for the 50th anniversary.
TOM BAKER FOR 50?
The Daily Express reported that tom Baker was in for the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who in 2013. NO confirmation of this come from the BBC.
At this point it seems like a cool rumor, I am not sure how they would make Baker look anything like the 4th Doctor w/o some CGI work.
But having Baker in would make sense on why no other Doctors appear to have been contacted. It makes sense to think Baker would want the limelight all to himself.
THE DALEK PROJECT
The Eleventh Doctor gets in it up to his neck during World War One in The Dalek Project, a much delayed graphic novel from BBC Books. It was originally written for the Tenth Doctor.
The Dalek Project is written by Justin Richards and Mike Collins.
Here is a plot synopsis…
1917. It’s the height of the Great War and Hellcombe Hall is a house full of mystery: locked doors, forbidden rooms, dustsheets covering guilty secrets, and ghostly noises frightening the servants.
Most mysterious of all, the drawing-room seems to open directly onto a muddy, corpse-filled trench on the Western Front . . .
Arriving at this stately home, the Doctor meets Lord Hellcombe, an armaments manufacturer who has a new secret weapon he believes will win the war: he calls it ‘the Dalek’.
Soon, the Doctor and his new friends are in a race against time to prevent the entire Western Front from becoming part of the Dalek Project!
The Dalek Project is due out on September 26th in Britain.
COLIN BAKER ON 50TH ANNIVERSARY RETURN
The Sixth Doctor, Colin Baker was interviewed in the Cambridge News this past week where he discussed why he thinks he and the other classic era Doctors will not appear in the anniversary season.
They don’t need us…The programme is doing extremely well without us. Also, every time someone asks me that question I hold up a photograph of myself when I played the part, compared to what I look like now, and say, ‘OK, how do you deal with that?’ I’ve changed.
He added, There would be two big questions I would ask: the first is, is my Doctor going to get a fair crack of the whip in the story, and not be eclipsed by anybody else? And the other one is, what vast fortune are you offering me? I’d be quite brutal… and say, if they offered me a million quid, I’d go on and say one line for them. If they offered me a tenner, I wouldn’t.
