Fleetwood Mac NOT playing Glastonbury

Fleetwood Mac, 2013.

Fleetwood Mac, 2013.

I’ve written two articles talking about how Fleetwood Mac wanted to play Glastonbury, and since I’m pretty much Anglotopia’s source for Glastonbury news, I regret to inform you that it seems like the Mac don’t want to play Glastonbury anymore, as they’ve scheduled concerts for the weekend of the festival.

The band will play in Spokane, WA on June 29 (the second day of the festival), and in Portland, OR on June 30 (the third day). So, unless they pull a Def Leppard and travel the world in a supersonic jet so they can perform on two continents on the same day, it’s not likely that they’ll make it to Glastonbury, and given the fact that the Concorde hasn’t been in service for over a decade, I can’t see that happening.

I’ve reported on the rumours that Fleetwood Mac would perform at Glastonbury, and that Stevie Nicks herself said she wanted to play the festival, so she is no doubt miffed at the fact that she will have to miss it.

Quoth Stevie Nicks: “When we were there [in the UK] in 2011, I watched it. I watched Beyonce and it was pretty amazing! I had just got home from the Hyde Park thing, so I was just home from my own show and I turned on the TV and we had a pretty big screen in the hotel where we were, so I sat and watched like three hours, four hours of it, so would I love to do it? I’d Love to do it!”

On a lighter note, Fleetwood Mac has asked their fans to re-create the  famous cover of their album “Rumours,” and send them to the band’s Facebook page. The post reads: “Do you love the Rumours album cover and imagine yourself recreating the classic pose? If so why not get started and send us your most imaginative recreations! Be as creative as you like, maybe choose an iconic location, alternative outfits or a whole new interpretation! The more creative the better!  Upload your pictures to the Fleetwood Mac page and we will re-post the best shots!” So far, the Photos section of the page has several reshots, including some with Marge and Homer Simpson, and one with Goku from DragonBall Z.
