David Beckham, the world famous British footballer, was seriously injured this past weekend in a match for AC Milan. He has torn his achilles tendon.
He’s been flown to Finland for emergency surgery by experts – but it’s doubtful he will be healed in time for the World Cup in June – dashing his lifelong hopes of helping England to victory in the World Cup.
The injury is serious enough that it may end his career prematurely as well. We’ll know more in the next few days. But it’s a tragedy for football fans everywhere, especially for it to happen in an otherwise unimportant game so close to the World Cup.
