Queen Victoria was born on this day in 1819 at Kensington Palace. She was queen of the United Kingdom from 1837 to 1901 and presided over the expansion of the British Empire. She was a national emblem of morality, had a longer reign than any other queen and oversaw a flowering of British culture around the world.
Here’s a good documentary about her younger years before she became Queen.
