BA Strike Latest: Prime Minister Gordon Brown Steps into the British Airways Strike

First it was Transport Secretary Lord Adonis yesterday on Andrew Marr and now Gordon Brown has done something quite unprecedented and weighed in on the impending British Airways Strike.

Gordon Brown said this about the strike:

“(The Strike is) unjustified and deplorable and comes at the wrong time. We should not have a strike. It’s not in the company’s interest, it’s not in the workers’ interest and it’s certainly not in the national interest. We have got to find a way in which the two sides can get together.”

With a general election on the horizon and with the UNITE Union being one of Labours biggest donors – it’s quite brave of Gordon Brown to step in with direct intervention.

This is getting very interesting and with the British Government stepping in – the strike may yet be averted.
