Selfridges Rings in the Holidays with their own “Elfridges” and Designer Stockings

It’s the beginning of December, Christmas trees are being brought home (or dug out of the attic), lights are being untangled (only after a few drinks and some choice, but all together festive words), and mistletoe is being hung inconspicuously right over your Benedict Cumberbatch (or David Tennant or Hugh Grant or…sorry, bit carried away there) look-alike’s head. But there are some places who are already well into the spirit of the holidays. Take Selfridges, for example. Decked out in Vivienne Westwood dresses and bespoke bow ties (not together though, that would just clash) the Elfridges, the store’s troupe of overly festive helpers is set to take the task of personal shopping to a whole new level. Armed with more gift knowledge than Santa himself, the Elfridges can be booked in advance at Selfridges.com or sought out in store.

Also getting into the Selfridges holiday spirit are the minds behind Moschino Cheap & Chic and Maison Martin Margiela, among others who have designed exclusive stocking for Selfridges. Sold in store and online, prices start at £30 for the quilted Barbour design to the Karl Lagerfeld stocking at £200, and the Margiela boot at £860. And for the tech friend, Henry Holland’s festive present holder comes with a matching iPhone case, for £74. The store will also offer hot drinks to clientele while a flash-mob choir of 80 festive fanatics and bell ringers will be popping up spontaneously around the store to create some, well I think they’re hoping, cheer. The Elfridges will also be working with the “Favour Fairies” (yes, you read that right) tutu clad (oh yes, why not) pixies who will be assisting them with hailing taxis, carrying packages and I’m guessing, sprinkling you with a dose of reality on your way out the door.
