Guest Post: The Top 5 Destinations to Travel by Train in Britain

Travelling by train is a quick and easy way to get to some great destinations within Britain. When you book your train tickets online, you can also enjoy great deals on fares and advance seat reservation. Below are the top five places to go when travelling by rail:

1 – London

The capital of England has something to offer everyone. You can take a trip on the London Eye, Europe’s largest ferris wheel, and marvel at stunning views across the city. You can visit Madame Tussauds and mingle with sports stars, royalty, famous actors, actresses, and pop stars. If you want to try and get a glimpse of the real Queen, then head to Buckingham Palace and watch the ‘changing of the guard’. There are many other attractions, including the Tower of London, St Paul’s Cathedral and Kensington Gardens. You’ll be spoiled for choice!

2 – Cardiff

The capital city of Wales is very different to London, but equally as worthy of a visit.  Get cheap train tickets to Cardiff to get right into the city centre, where you can enjoy great shopping, dining and sightseeing. You can also head down to the harbour area around Cardiff Bay, where the stunning views combine with great waterfront attractions. Soak up some Welsh culture and immerse yourself in Cardiff’s unique atmosphere.

3 – Exeter

This Devonshire city is another great place to visit by train. Combining the relaxed vibe of a coastal location with the vibrant atmosphere of a bustling city, Exeter offers a mix of modern and historic which appeals to all ages and tastes. Home to sights such as the magnificent Exeter Cathedral, and surrounded by beautiful sweeping countryside, Exeter is an attractive city which is ideally located to allow for easy exploration of the rest of Devon.

4 – Edinburgh

Scotland’s capital is home to some amazing architecture and is an enchanting city to visit, no matter the time of year. With a hugely diverse set of attractions including Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh Castle and Royal Yacht Britannia, Edinburgh is full of exciting things to see and do. The city has a truly Scottish character and will give you a very warm and friendly welcome.

5 – Birmingham

Travelling to Birmingham by train is by far the easiest way to get to the city. Trains run straight into the heart of the action, where you’ll find great shops, restaurants, bars, sights and attractions. These include the National Sea Life Centre, museums and art galleries, the Bullring shopping centre and more. Situated in the centre of the country, Birmingham is a diverse and multicultural city which is as exciting as it is unique.
