Anglophile in Exile: Interactive Literary London

What do you get when you take Google Maps and British literature?

A fantastic website marking the location of more than 400 books set in or about London on Google maps!

Running throughout 2008, the Get London Reading campaign encouraged Londoners to make more time in their busy schedules for reading. A part of the campaign was highlighting the impact London had on literature, whether it was a setting, a character or an influence upon an author. The whole map really shows that London is a treasure trove of fantastic stories.

As a fan of British novels, I just love this map. Every neighborhood has more books than you can imagine. Being the Sherlock Holmes fan that I am, the first place I looked was Baker Street… and there he was at 22B! See a book missing from the map? Well, you can add it! This is just such a fantastic resource.

Have a favorite section of the city? Check it out and find another book to add to your must read list!

Happy exploring & reading!
