Here in England when we are talking of somewhere that is in the north we use the term ‘Northern’. Have never heard of the world Notherwern. Americans have a habit of taking our language, mangling it up and think they speak English.
I spent a couple days there this summer on my way to bicycle in Scotland. My wife and I climbed Haystacks and stayed in Loweswater. Wonderful place! more pictures here:
