News: Flooding in Cumbria

November 20, 2009 by Lisa

This is Lisa of Dispatches from the North, just wanted to give a quick update to all Anglophiles out there about a situation up here in the North of England. The county of Cumbria in the North West (which includes the Lake District National Park) has been hit by record rainfall and floods. A police officer lost his life while helping to clear a bridge which collapsed beneath him. You can follow the story here at the BBC Cumbria site, but please keep the people of Cumbria in your thoughts and prayers. More rain is expected this weekend so it is still unsure when the people of Cumbria can return to their homes and start rebuilding.
