Breaking: Virgin Atlantic Pulls out of Chicago – VA Cuts Capacity and Staff

Breaking news that will affect Chicago area Anglophiles (me amongst them). Virgin is cutting it’s daily London to Chicago flights this winter.

This news come via the Guardian. Due to the econopocalypse, Virgin is cutting capacity and staff. The biggest route to get the ax is the complete abandonment of the Chicago to London transatlantic route, which they have only been running for a couple years.

This leaves the venerable British Airways as the best option for transatlantic travel out of Chicago. BA currently has four flights out of Chicago and has no plans to cut capacity.
