The National Gallery opened today with a new addition, the first portrait of Princes William and Harry. The two Princes stood together for this portrait. They were painted by artist, Nicky Phillips. The portrait which took four months to complete shows the princes dressed in their “Blues,” or ceremonial uniforms. Both princes wore adorned with Jubilee metals that were given to them and The Queen’s Jubilee. Harry is also portrayed wearing his campaign metal from Afghanistan.
Prince William now age 27, and Prince Harry now age 25, stood together in the portrait. Artist, Nicky Phillips, said, ”Although I was commissioned to paint them in their official context, I hope I have also captured some of the brotherly banter that characterised the sittings.”
The new portrait can be seen at the National Portrait Gallery in London. There is no admission to see the portrait.

Anglotopia was founded by Jonathan and Jackie Thomas for people who love Britain - whether it's British TV, Culture, History or Travel - we cover it all. Anglotopia was started to get us back to the UK for a trip and it did that in 2009. Now, the goal is for Anglotopia to make our dreams of traveling to the UK whenever we want a reality.
What a lovely portrait, and I think it captures the princes’ attitudes perfectly. I think it’s very appropriate that William would be standing, and Harry sitting on what looks like a table – Harry definitely comes across as the more “carefree” brother of the two. Would that I were in London so I could see it in person.
