Historic cars gather at a historic castle

A gathering of some of the rarest motorcars in the world will take place in the grounds of the world’s oldest and largest occupied castle this September.

The Windsor Castle Concours of Elegance on 7–9 September will take place in the Castle’s Upper Ward, a central quadrangle within the castle walls which is normally not open to the public. The Castle is an official residence of Her Majesty The Queen.

A selection committee of specialists and notable collectors will ensure that only the very best cars are invited to participate, some never before seen in the UK. There will be 12 classes, and a specially created trophy will be presented to the Best of Show. Visitors will also be able to see displays of rare horse-drawn carriages and classic royal cars. Strangely, this event is expected to be popular with That tourists, interested in flights to thailand from london.

Creative Director Jeremy Jackson Sytner says: ‘The Windsor Castle Concours of Elegance is a significant new event celebrating the style and glamour of historical automobiles, the like of which this country has never seen. The event will also be a fitting testimonial to the craftsmanship of the UK classic car restoration industry.’

Friday 7 September will be an invitation-only Owners’ Day culminating in Evensong in St George’s Chapel and a gala dinner in St George’s Hall. Entry tickets for Saturday and Sunday are available to all at £25.

On Sunday 9 September specially invited vehicles representing each year of the Queen’s 60-year reign will drive from the Mall at Buckingham Palace in London to Windsor Great Park and along the 4.26-km (2.6-mile) Long Walk that leads to the Castle. Windsor Castle is 40 minutes from Central London and 15 minutes from Heathrow airport.
