There are times when you traveling where you get a hotel bed that makes you feel on cloud nine. It is so comfortable that you actually never want to get up in the morning. You may even dream of trying to find a way to take the bed home with you. However, there are times when you get stuck with a mattress that is pretty much the most uncomfortable thing your body has ever been on. This is quite troublesome, particularly when all you want to do is get a good night’s sleep after a long day out and about the city. Thankfully, there are a few things that you can do to cope with the hotel mattress and hopefully make it more comfortable.
Dealing With a Sagging Mattress
Little is worse than arriving at your hotel room only to discover that your mattress sags right in the middle. Rather than deal with that all night, you can stuff some objects underneath the mattress to prop it up. Look around the hotel room. You will probably find some extra blankets or pillows stored away that will do just nicely. If necessary, you can also use some clothes that you packed for yourself. Even bringing your own sheets with you, especially if you’re sensitive to laundry detergent, can make your saggy mattress more comfortable
Making Do With a Hard Mattress
Sleeping on a hard mattress can be tough, particularly if you are used to a soft and fluffy bed at home. To help make this a bit more tolerable while you are traveling, it is time to ask for some extra comforters to be delivered to your room. You can then take these and put them underneath your bedsheets. You can also buy one inch of mattress foam that you can use as a topper for your bed. This can be easily packed in your bag and you can have it handy on any trip you take when the need arises.
Create Your Own Mattress Topper
You might not have the space to bring a mattress topper with you everywhere, but you can always buy a temporary one when you are in a new city. You can purchase an inexpensive egg carton type of topper that is made of foam. You will find this at most furniture stores and it will help make your hotel mattress a bit more comfortable for you.
Make Use of a Rollaway Bed
You might think that there is no way a rollaway bed could be more comfortable than a hotel mattress, but you would be surprised. Actually, that is not the point. Ask the bed to be delivered to your room and then take the small mattress off the rollaway and put it over the top of your existing hotel mattress. This should make you much more comfortable for the night.
When All Else Fails
There are times when a hotel mattress is just so bad that it could never be salvaged, no matter how creative you get. In such cases, you will want to talk to the front desk and get moved to another room. Be a bit demanding if you need to be, you deserve a great night of sleep.
These five tips will hopefully help you get a great night of sleep even in the midst of a less than comfortable mattress. The key is to find a way to give your body the support that it needs to enter into a peaceful sleep cycle. When you are traveling, there are times when you just need to get creative in order to make that happen.
